Obiano’s wife not in our custody, EFCC says

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied arresting the wife of the immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano.

Recall that social media reports few days ago indicated that the anti-graft agency had arrested and detained the former First Lady of Anambra State, Eberechukwu Obiano for alleged fraud.

The news of her arrest came shortly after signifying her interest to run for the Anambra North Senatorial District, under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Spokesperson of the Commission, Wilson Uwajaren, while reacting to the report of her alleged arrest, told newsmen that the claim was false.

He said, “Eberechukwu is not in EFCC’s custody.”

The Trumpet recalled that Obiano was arrested shortly after he handed over to his successor, Prof Charles Soludo.

The immediate past Governor was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, around 8:30 pm on March 6th, 2022 while on his way to Texas, United States of America.
