Obaseki receives new army commander, assures sustained partnership

Edo State Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Monday, received the new Commander of 4 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Brig. Gen. Danlami Ndahi, assuring of his government’s support and collaboration to ensure the security of lives and property of citizens of the state.

Obaseki, received the new army commander and his entourage, who were on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Benin City, hailed the Army Command for its role in strengthening the state’s security architecture, ensuring peace, unity and security across communities in Edo.

The governor said, “We welcome the new commander of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army in the State. The Brigade has been an integral part of the state security architecture as the state has enjoyed tremendous support from the Brigade for a very long time.

“I assure the new army commander that this administration is open. I want to assure you that you are home and should see yourself as one of us.”

Obaseki said the refurbishment of some buildings are ongoing at the Ekenwan Barracks, urging the new commander to collaborate with his administration to ensure the completion of the projects.

He added, “We have made a commitment to help fix some blocks of accommodation at the Ekenwan Barracks for some officers who are having problems with accommodation.

“We will also be relying on you to give us support to secure, protect and improve security in our waterways in Edo State.”

On his part, Brig. Gen. Danlami Ndahi said, “As the Chief Executive Officer and Chief security officer of Edo, I need to pay you a courtesy visit so you know me.

“My predecessor has told me of your collaboration with the command in ensuring security of the State. I will do my best to improve on the work of my predecessor.”
