Obaseki inspects Textile Mill, Adolor College, Technical College, other road projects
By Isaac Olamikan
Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has inspected ongoing road projects, including Textile Mill Road, Technical College Road and 19 Street along Adolor College Road, in Benin metropolis, reassuring his administration’s commitment to developing road infrastructure in the state.
Governor Obaseki was accompanied on the inspection tour by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha; Special Adviser, Strategy, Policy, Projects and Performance Management, Sarah Esangbedo Ajose Adeogun and Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, among other members of the State Executive Council.
Among the projects inspected include ongoing construction of road and drainage along Textile Mill Road; 3km Technical College Road; 1.9km adjoining roads around the Government Science and Technical College, and 12.4km Adolor College Road in Egor LGA.
The governor said his administration will double its efforts in the dry season to mobilize resources and complete the road projects.

He noted, “One of the major concerns of the citizens is the road. The rains have been unprecedented. This is the first full one week since June or July without rainfall. Finally, the dry season is here and since we have about five months of dry season, we would double our efforts and put in all our resources to get our roads done.
“It’s important that we make a connector road at this 19th Street on Adolor College Road which will connect Ugbowo Campus of the University of Benin area to Siluko Road. It is like another by-pass. It’s important that we rapidly begin to construct these connector roads to decongest the traffic around the city.”
Obaseki added, “There is a major drainage system built in this area and it’s adequate to drain water out of this neighborhood. What we are doing now is to have connector drainages which have been well measured to make sure they are optimal and have the capacity required to take water out of the area.”
