Obaseki congratulates Osakhue as first Nigerian president for advocacy citizens’ engagement forum

Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has congratulated rights activist and Executive Director, Foundation for Good Governance and Social Change, Comrade Austin Osakhue on his election as President of the African Forum for Advocacy and Citizens Engagement (AFACE).

In a statement, Obaseki described Osakhue’s emergence as deserving, expressing confidence in his ability and capacity to deliver on the new role.

Obaseki said, “I heartily congratulate foremost rights activist and Executive Director, Foundation for Good Governance and Social Change, Comrade Austin Osakhue on his election as President of the African Forum for Advocacy and Citizens Engagement (AFACE).

“At the keenly contested election held in Kigali, Rwanda, Osakhue polled 156 votes to defeat four other contestants from Kenya, Ghana, Morocco and Malawi, emerging the first Nigerian to be elected as president of the 32-member body.”

The governor added, “A fine democrat and strong advocate of good governance, Osakhue has continued to distinguish himself, advancing courses to deepen democracy, engender accountability and transparency in governance and enthrone development and equal opportunity for all.
