Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has said his government will sustain policies and programmes to guarantee lasting peace and security, ensuring the safety of residents and investments in the state.

Obaseki gave the assurance when he received members of the Edo State chapter of the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), who were on a courtesy visit at the Government House in Benin City.

The group was led by IAWPA’s Edo State Director and South-South Coordinator, Dr Amos Areloegbe.

The governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Osaigbovo Iyoha, urged for continued support and collaboration of all residents and other stakeholders to achieve sustained peace and security in the state.

He said his government is committed to the realization of the Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) Agenda, ensuring a progressive and prosperous state for all Edo citizens to live in and realize their fullest potential.

Obaseki said, “The MEGA Agenda of His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki is geared towards making Edo State the best state to live and prosper and for this to happen, peace and unity are vital.

“This is why His Excellency has been investing hugely in security. We are engaging stakeholders and carrying them along to ensure the realization of our vision of ensuring a peaceful and secured Edo State.

“We have been partnering with key stakeholders to address intra and inter-communal clashes, boundary issues, land grabbing, and armed robbery, among others and together we have been able to reduce them to the barest minimum.

“We are urging your collaboration to ensure that this progress is sustained.”

“We are passionate about satisfying the wishes of our people as that is what governance is all about,” he added.

On his part, Areloegbe while hailing the government’s efforts at sustaining peace and safety in the state, noted, “We are here to let the government know what we do. We want to commend the government and partner with you to ensure lasting peace in the state.”
