NUJ lauds Buhari for conferring national honours on Isuguzo, Prof Lugga

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Katsina state has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for conferring national honour of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) on the union’s national president, Chris Isuguzo.

In a statement signed by the chairman of the union in the state, Tukur Dan-Ali, also commended Buhari for conferring the same honour on the grand patron of the union in the state, Prof. Sani Abubakar Lugga.

The statement, however, called on government to work at improving the welfare of working journalists in the country.

“Katsina State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists-NUJ- felicitates with its National President, Chief Chris Isuguzo for the conferment of a National Honour of “Member of the Federal Republic” MFR by President Muhammadu Buhari

“Similarly, the NUJ felicitates with its Katsina State Grand Patron Professor Sani Abubakar Lugga also for his conferment of the same MFR by the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria retired General Muhammadu Buhari.

“The conferment of these same National Honours to these two famous icons is a clear testimony of their hard work, dedication, and selfless service to humanity.

“We are confident that the conferment of this National Honour of the “MFR” to these leaders will add colour to the beauty of Journalism as a Noble and respected profession.

“The Katsina State Council of NUJ is highly proud to be associated with Prof Sani Abubakar Lugga (the fifth Waziri of Katsina) for his contribution in no small measure to the development of Journalism as well as playing a fatherly role to Journalists in Katsina State.

“To the NUJ National President Chief Chris Isuguzo, we believe that the cap of MFR fits him perfectly especially as he was recently elected as the President of the Confederation of African Journalists (CAJ).

“The Katsina State NUJ, therefore, thanks President Muhammadu Buhari for honouring its National leadership and calls on government at all levels to as a matter of urgency ensure the improvement of welfare of working Journalists.”
