Chelsea offers Azpilicueta to Barca for €12m

Chelsea captain César Azpilicueta continues to be a priority target for Barcelona that are eager to bolster their defensive reinforcement for the new season.

Firstly, it was thought easy to land the Spaniard in the Blaugrana’s team but as it is, the situation is becoming more complicated as Chelsea issued a new directive. The Trumpet gathered.

According to a report from Spain, the West London club and last season’s Premier League third-place finished team are looking to release the player but not below the €12m asking price.

Barcelona are not willing to meet the offer as the club’s financial status isn’t healthy enough for such transactions and this has resulted in the club bidding for players whose contract have expired in their respective clubs.

The Catalan head coach Xavi Hernandez needs Azpillicueta in Camp Nou to bolster the right flank of his defensive lineup and is mounting much pressure on the club to see the Blues captain makes the switch.

Despite the insistence from Xavi, the club do not want to go beyond the valued limit and will decide to make an offer of not more than €8m.

Reportedly, Football Espana said that the ’32-year-old joined Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the United States on Sunday even though he’s keen to leave Stamford Bridge and return to Spain to Barcelona’.
