NPFL Matchday 19 Round-Up

Nigeria Professional Football League Matchday19 recorded a deluge of goals as Enugu Rangers thrashed visiting Lobi Stars 5-3.

The home team players were quick to get accustomed to their new home ground in Awka as a hat-trick from Ossy Martins and goals from Chidiebere Nwodo and K. Agu secured three points for the third-placed NPFL team. Lobi Stars responded unproportionately through R. Ayangwa’s spot-kick, J. Akhabue and Douglas Achiv’s goals.

In Okigwe Township Stadium, two clubs battling with relegation, Heartland of Owerri and MFM of Lagos, played a barren draw. Heartland rocks the 18 position with 20 points from 19 games while MFM sits at the bottom of the NPFL table with 17 points from 19 games. The Trumpet gathered.

Meanwhile, Dakkada saw off Niger Tornadoes with a 2-1 win at the Uyo Township Stadium courtesy of Edidiong Enobong’s goal and an own-goal from Tornadoes defender Sunday Akinmoladun.

The visitors got one back through a late spot-kick by defender Mohammed Rabiu. Both teams are at the periphery of the NPFL table red zone at 16 (Dakkada) and 17 (Niger Tornadoes) positions with 21 and 20 points respectively.

Elsewhere, Abia Warriors played a 2-2 draw with Katsina United at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba. The visitors on two occasions took the lead through the efforts of Mustapha Salisu and W. Adebayo but O. Valentine and G. Ogbaje’s goals cancelled the goals for the home side.
