Nigeria to pay ex-Eagles coach Gernot Rohr N157million – FIFA

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has partially granted the request of former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr against the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over a breach of contractual terms The Trumpet gathered.
Rohr was sacked by the NFF in December last year after a poor performance in the qualifiers to the 2022 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon and was replaced by Augustine Eguavoen in the interim.
Angered by the turnout of circumstances, the German whose contract stipulated that he will be paid in full until December 2022 when the contract ends, dragged Nigeria’s football governing body to FIFA alleging a claim of $1.2m as compensation.
However, after reviewing the case brought by the German, who recently missed out on becoming the head coach of the Mali national team to Eric Chelle, the FIFA tribunal awarded the sum of $377,879.46 to Rohr, admitting that his claim is “partially accepted insofar as it is admissible”.
FIFA tribunal stressed that the NFF must ensure that they pay the money within a timeframe of 45 days or incur the wrath of the apex football governing body.

“If full payment (including all applicable interest) is not made within 45 days of notification of this decision, the respondent [the NFF] shall be imposed a restriction on receiving a percentage of development funding, up until the due amounts are paid,” FIFA tribunal said.
However, NFF, not oblivious of the terms of the contract they signed with the German gaffer, will have to cough out an additional N156,933,339.74 to N62,718,294.52 FIFA slammed on the country over fans’ destruction of MKO Abiola National Stadium during the world cup qualifiers with the Black Stars of Ghana.
