The Super Falcons of Nigeria has defeated the senior women’s national team of Cote D’Ivoire 2-0 in the first-leg of the qualifiers for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco
The match played Friday in the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, saw the Falcon Ifeoma Onumonu scoring a brace to hand Nigeria a win in a crucial first-leg tie.
It would be recalled that Nigeria had earlier been prevented by female elephants of Cote D’Ivoire from the CAF Women’s Olympics qualifiers after they defeated the Super Falcons on away goal.
The Nigeria female team was without the team’s captain Asisat Oshoala after she had been affected by an hamstring in training with a newbie Ashleigh Plumptre from Leicester City making her debut for Nigeria.

Plumptre, a defender, partnered with Onome Ebi who stood in for Oshoala to captain the Super Falcons to victory.
With this first leg win, the Super Falcons will be capitalising on tbe advantageous result for the second leg on February 22 to qualify ahead of the female Elephants for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
