Australian tennis star, Nick Kyrgios has been allegedly involved in assaulting his former partner, Chiara Passari, The Trumpet gathered.
Kyrgios, despite qualifying for the Wimbledon’s quarter-final risk two years behind bars if culpable of committing the said crime.
According to The Canberra Time, the Aussie would appear before the court next month in August, to defend his innocence.
The report further stated that the said incident took place last year and Kyrgios, who defeated Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in a four-set thriller in the round of 16 scheduled quarter-final tie with Chilean Cristian Garin, is already aware of the summon.
Canberra Time further cited the Australian police statement over the incident to exacerbate the situation.
A part of the police statement reads: “ACT Policing can confirm a 27-year-old Watson man is scheduled to face the ACT Magistrates Court on the 2nd of August in relation to one charge of common assault following an incident in December 2021.”

Recalled that Kyrgios started a relationship with his estranged partner in July 2020 after he broke up with his girlfriend and Russian tennis player, Anna Kalinskaya in April 2020.
His lawyer, Barrister Jason Moffett, who confirmed receiving the summon, said his client takes the allegations very seriously.
He added that he will restrain himself from making further comments as the matter is before a competent court of jurisdiction.
“It’s in the context of a domestic relationship,” he told The Canberra Times.
“The nature of the allegation is serious, and Mr Kyrgios takes the allegation very seriously.
“Given the matter is before the court. He doesn’t have a comment at this stage, but in the fullness of time we’ll issue a media release.”
According to Australian law, as reported by Sun Online, ‘a person may be issued with a summons if police believe they have committed an offence but don’t see it as necessary to arrest the person’.
