NFF mourns veteran sports broadcaster Adesola Lanipokun

The Nigeria Football Federation mourns with the family of veteran sports journalist, Adesola Lanipokun who died four days after celebrating his 80th birthday on March 2.
In the message to the family of the deceased, the NFF described the incident as shocking having celebrated the sports icon barely a few days ago.
According to the Nigeria football governing body, the deceased had a sterling career in the field of sports broadcasting which he started from WNTV in Ibadan and rose to set a giant stride with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA).
The NFF defined Adesola Lanipokun as a man who distinguished himself in the field of sports journalism after he had undergone training in London to practically break boundaries in Nigeria’s sports reportage.
Following the most sorrowful event as depicted by the NFF, the governing body concluded that it is consoled with the incontrovertible fact that the veteran broadcaster lived a fulfilled life.
The NFF prayed to God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, while it acknowledged that Adesola Lanipokun was a clairvoyant in the sports industry.

The NFF statement reads: “To read about the death of Mr. Fabio Lanipekun, only days after we celebrated him for reaching the landmark 80 years, was a painful thing.
“It was hard to believe. We all read the history of how he blazed the trail in sports broadcasting starting from his time at the WNTV in Ibadan, and his distinguished and stellar career at the Nigeria Television Authority.
“He was an oracle of the industry. We are consoled by the fact that he lived an exemplary, fruitful and fun-filled life. He was a professional to the core and loved his job deeply.
“We pray that God will grant him eternal rest and grant the family he has left behind the fortitude to bear the big loss,” it concluded.
The late Adesola Lanipokun during his career days had worked briefly with the Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) Lagos, before his spell with the Western Nigeria Television/Western Broadcasting Service (WNTV/WNBS).
