The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed the former head coach of the Nigeria U17 football team, Emmanuel Amuneke as the new immediate assistant to the interim Technical Adviser of the Nigerian Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen.

The NFF, on Monday, reconstituted the Technical Crew of the Nigeria Men’s Senior Football team by bringing in the ex-Barcelona star into the tactical warehouse of the Super Eagles to help build a formidable team ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The 1994 AFCON winner whose brace in the final against Zambia in Tunis handed the trophy to Nigeria, was an integral part of the Dream Team that won the first-ever Olympic football trophy in Africa, 1996.

Amuneke with 27caps for the national team scored two goals in the 1994 World Cup against Bulgaria and Italy.

In 1996, after a fantastic performance by the winger in the Olympics football game, Amunike was crowned the BBC African footballer of the year.
