Motorists, commuters call on Oborevwori to fix collapsed Enhwe/Unenurhie bridge

Motorists and commuters plying the Enhwe/Unenurhie Road have called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to urgently fix the collapsed bridge on the route.
The road which links several Isoko communities and Ughelli town, connects the East -West Road.
It was learned that the bridge head collapsed on Thursday, November 2, 2023.
Motorists who spoke to journalists, called on the governor to expedite action on the bridge, as well as other failed sections of the road to ease the suffering of the masses.
They lamented that they can no longer access the East-West Road to go either to Ughelli or Port -Harcourt.
A motorist, Mr Keno Omofezi, who was on his way from lgbide to Oleh en route the Unenurhie/Enhwe Road said, ” it is indeed painful to think about the situation we found ourselves. As you can see, the damage is much, collosal and terrible. Kindly call on our governor to come and help us out of the situation we suddenly found ourselves.”
He said: ” This Road and bridge is very dear to us because it connects the whole of lsoko communities to the popular East-West Road, so we
cannot afford to stay without it. Hence, the compassionate appeal for the governor to hear our cry early and come to our rescue because the situation apparently need urgent attention without any sentimentality.”

President-General of Unenurhie, Mr Peter Manson, who was trapped and seen gazing helplessly at the cut-off bridge stated: “This damage is beyond community effort, the Delta State Government under the leadership of Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori should graciously come to our aid to help us out.”
A commuter, Anthony Okpiyalele, opined that a short term action be done on the bridge, pending when a long term work can be executed as a lasting solution.
Meanwhile confirming the issue on the collapse bridge, the commissioner for works and rural and riverine road Mr. Charles Aniagwu in a telephone chat stated that palliative is already being carried out on the collapsed entrance of the bridge.
