Manchester United are eager to snap Frenkie De Jong from Barcelona and are doing everything possible to bring the Netherlands international to Old Trafford.
Prior to the above, the Red Devils have struggled in recent years after the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson but their desire to return to the glory days has made the club bring in a Dutch manager, Erik ten Hag last month.
Ten Hag has identified De Jong as a key factor needed in his plans to rejuvenate the club back to its glory days, prompting United to enter into an intensive bid for the Barcelona midfielder. The Trumpet Gathered
According to a report from Spain, United’s first bid was outrightly rejected by the Catalans, who believe the player they signed in 2019 from Ajax in a five-year contract, is worth above €75m.
The Red Devils are not backing out of the deal and have kept close contact with the Catalans for further negotiations to see the player, who scored a goal and assisted two in Barcelona’s 4-0 defeat of Athletic
Bilbao in the 2021 Copa del Rey final, becomes the pivotal point of United midfield.

To prove to the United fans and allay tension of their inability to inject fresh blood into their squad for next season, the Red Devils have increased their initial €60m bid which Barcelona out rightly rejected to €65m.
Reportedly, transfer expert journalist, Fabrizio Romano, noted that Barcelona whose De Jong is part of Xavi Hernandez’s plan for next season, emphasised that the player will only be sold for above €75-80m. The amount spent by the Catalans in 2019 to sign him from Ajax.
However, United are upbeat about the deal but the player is not amazed to make the switch to a club he will be denied of playing in the UEFA Champions League with no guarantee that they return European tourney soon.
Following the player’s contemplation, MundoDeportivo reported that if United are willing to make a mouthwatering offer on personal terms that the Dutch international can not be able to reject, the 25-year-old will
be headed for Old Trafford to spice up the Red Devils’ midfield.
