MAN tasks FG to provide equipment for easy cargo inspection at ports

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has urged the Federal Government to provide scanners and other equipment that can help improve the delivery time for inspection of cargoes.

President of the association, Mansur Ahmed, who stated this at its 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the South West zone in Ibadan, Oyo State, said the Federal Government needed to inspect cargoes at ports by making scanners and other required equipment available in all the ports.

“It is important to improve on the time consumed in clearing containers and cargoes at the ports by ensuring that second trade facilitation equipment such as scanners are readily available.

“We also call on the government to enforce, evaluate and monitor the implementation of the executive order 003 of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) to ensure compliance by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

He advised governments at all levels to work in synergy and carry stakeholders along in inventing appropriate strategies to improve and stabilize the country’s economy.

Speaking, Acting Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal, who charged manufacturers to create robust policies and partner with other agencies and stakeholders to boost the country’s manufacturing sector, pledged that the Oyo State Government would continue to create a conducive environment for manufacturing and businesses to thrive in the state.
