Labour Party, LP, House of Assembly candidate for Onuimo state constituency in the Imo State, Christopher Elehu, has been killed by suspected assassins who attacked him last Friday.
The assailants after killing their victim also set his country home ablaze and destroyed his property before fleeing.
The killers who struck in the early hours of Friday shot for about two hours causing people in the neighbourhood to desert the area while scampering for their safety.
It was gathered that the bloodthirsty hoodlums also visited the homes of other politicians in the area to kill them but could not have their evil missions accomplished because they were not at home.
A source in the area who preferred his name not to be mentioned confirmed the incident, said that the killers invaded the house Elehu in the night firing gunshots for about two hours uninterrupted before leaving.

He stated that the community and entire Onuimo LGA and the Labour Party family in the area have been thrown into mourning over the barbaric killing of the young man popularly known as Wasco.
“They have killed Christopher Elehu, popularly known as Wasco. Until his death, he was the Labour Party candidate in Onuimo Local Government Area. They invaded his house when everybody had gone to sleep and shot for over two hours.
“They killed the man and burnt his house. They also destroyed his property. His corpse was laying on the floor with matchet cuts when villagers gathered in the morning,” he said.
