Liverpool sign £6.5m Ramsay from Aberdeen
Liverpool have signed Scottish teenage right-back Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen for about £6.5m as a backup to Trent Alexander-Arnold at Anfield.
Ramsay, overwhelmed with the move to Merseyside said that it is a dream to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world. The right-wing defender, who became the highest record sale for the Scottish club in a deal worth about £6.5m, has subjected Aberdeen to an intensive search for a replacement.
Reportedly, the 18-year-old praised Arnold’s fast growth from the academy to establish himself as a figure in the first team, adding that he is eager to learn a lot from him. According to the teenager, the progression that has made him play for Aberdeen and now Liverpool is an impressive development.
Ramsay further drew inference from Arnold’s achievements at Liverpool and stressed that it will serve as a motivating factor to catapult him to work harder into the club’s first team. “I’m just buzzing and it’s a dream come true really to be here,” Ramsay told the club website.

“It was a dream come true to play for Aberdeen, and now to be at one of the biggest, if not the biggest club in the world, it’s a massive achievement and I’m looking forward to trying to show the fans what I’ve got.
“Hopefully I can come in in pre-season, show everyone at the club, the staff, and players what I’ve got and then we’ll see what happens from there. “There’s been a lot of young players that have played, the likes of Trent and Harvey [Elliott] as well, there’s a lot more. “There’s obviously a pathway here that’s one of the reasons I chose it as well. It’s not just a massive club, they give young players chances in the first team.
“So if I can come in during preseason, put my mark down, then there’s no reason why I can’t push to get in the first-team squad,” he stated ambitiously. Meanwhile, Aberdeen have identified Tranmere Rovers Josh Dacres-Cogley as a possible replacement for Ramsay but a £400,000 price tag slammed by the Super White Army has given the Dons a room to reconsider the offer.
The Dons, poise to take the player away from Prenton Park, using a slice of the fund from Ramsay’s deal to finance the process, believe the 26-year-old is lesser than Rovers’ asking price.
