Kidnapped former President Jonathan’s Cousin Regain Freedom

The kidnapped cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr Jepthan Robert has regained freedom two weeks after his abduction.

The family spokesman, Austin Ekeinde in a statement confirmed that Mr. Robert had regained his freedom after a protracted ordeal in the hands of his kidnappers.

“He regained freedom in the early hours of Monday, 7th February, 2022.He is in good health, but would see his doctor for routine medical check up,” the statement added.

Ekeinde who applauded the efforts of the Bayelsa state Police Commissioner, the DSS and other well-meaning Nigerians in ensuring that Robert’s freedom, declined comment on whether or not ransom was paid for his release.

He disclosed the family insisted that the incident be promptly reported to the law-enforcement

agencies who mounted pressure until he regained freedom.

Investigations by The Trumpet showed that Robert’s abduction would be the sixth high profile incident reported in the last five months in Bayelsa. Others include the mother of the Secretary to the state government, Mrs Betinah Benson, Mr Tari Ajanami, a banker, Chief Marvin Turner, father of Ogbia local government council Chairman, Mr Lotana Okoye, a renowned businessmen and Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment, Mr Federal Otokito.
