Relegated Nigeria Professional Football League club, Kano Pillars, are allegedly on the verge to bypass the Nigeria National League (NNL) campaign through Doma United to return to the Nigeria topflight division.
The Kano State-based club before the matchday 38 fixture against Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan, were sanctioned for breaching the League Management Company (LMC) rules against Dakkada FC and Katsina FC which resulted in the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ratifying the deduction of league points from their accrued points.
Consequent to the actions of the NFF, Kano Pillars who were contending with other clubs like Shooting Stars of Ibadan, Lobi Stars, Dakkada FC, Abia Warriors, Niger Tornadoes, Katsina United and Heartland of Owerri for NPFL survival, irredeemably wallowed in the red zone notwithstanding the 2-1 win against Shooting Stars in Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday, July 17, 2022.
Sai Masu Gida having been relegated will have to begin their 2022-23 campaign in Nigeria’s second-tier division but an unconfirmed report reveals that they are on the move to return to the top tier by leveraging on Doma United NPFL qualification ticket.

According to the report, Kano Pillars are planning to buy the qualification spot of the Gombe State-based club for N40,000,000 to quickly return to the NPFL which Doma United have refuted by reaffirming their commitment to kickstarting their campaign in the NPFL next season.
In a statement by Doma United CEO, Alhaji Suleiman Umar, he stated that contrary to reports making the rounds on various media outlets, the club is ready to play in the NPFL, reiterating that they worked assiduously to get to where they are presently.
“Let me clear the thought about this and assure the good supporters of Doma United Football Club that Doma United is not going to sell its NPFL ticket and we’re ready to play in the elite league,” he assured.
“We didn’t come this far to stop, we will play in the elite league. People should debunk any other report that is saying a different thing because we don’t know where they’re emanating from.
“We’re a professional club and I believe in my players’ performance so we’ll play in the league,” Umar reiterated.
The Doma United stand regarding the melee which was reported by the club’s media officer, Abubakar Saleh, further reaffirmed the NPFL newbie’s position not to concede their NPFL spot to anyone at any price.
