Football Club Owners of Nigeria (Club Owners) have handed an indefinite suspension to the Chairman of Kano Pillars, Alhaji Yahaya Surajo, for assaulting the Assistant Referee 1 (AR1) during the rescheduled NPFL matchday 31 fixture with Dakkada FC in Kano.
The incident which happened on Thursday, saw Surajo assaulting the AR1 in a footage that was sent to the association.
In a statement condemning the shameful act capable of tarnishing the image its image, the Executive Secretary, Alloy Chukwuemeka, underlined that Surajo’s actions contravene the dictates and everything the association stands for.
According to Chukwuemeka, the Club Owners comprise members of noble value, character and discipline, who have made their mark in various fields.

“The Club Owners have therefore placed the Yahaya Surajo on indefinite suspension from all activities of the Association forthwith pending the outcome of a detailed investigation into the unfortunate incident.” The statement read.
“Club Owners comprises astute football Administrators who have distinguished themselves in several fields of human endeavours with the expected high level of discipline in the management of their various clubs, hence the action of Surajo did not represent his status as a member of the Association,” it added.
Furthermore, the association stressed that the incident is very unfortunate having had stakeholders meeting with the League Management Company (LMC) where a lot of key issues that protect the dignity of the Nigeria Professionals Football League were discussed recently.
The Club Owners stated that President Barrister Isaac Danladi has directed the immediate constitution of a disciplinary committee where Alhaji Surajo would answer to his care before he can be readmitted into the association.
