The Adamawa state council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), has frowned at the alleged inhuman treatment melted at one of its female members demanding justice for her.
The female member, Naffesah Vandi, whom The Trumpet learnt was a staff of the news department of the state Broadcasting corporation, was alleged to have been brutally battered by her husband.
Piqued by the development, the union called on the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), to as a matter of urgency wade into the issue.
The union also called on the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to take decisive action against the culprit.
In a statement jointly signed by the state council chairman, Ishaka Donald Dedan and the Secretary, Fidelis Jockthan, on Wednesday, the union, as noticed by our correspondent, suggested that the culprit must be brought to book.

NUJ described the act as “heinous, unacceptable, wickedness, and barbaric and uncalled for.”
The female Journalist was alleged to have been beaten to “stupor” by her husband, a former staff of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
Though the police were said to have swung into action, the members of the fourth estate of the realm in the state, are vehemently demanding speedy action towards the immediate arrest and prosecution of the alleged perpetrator.
While demanding justice for the victim, the union expressed sadness that at the time of filing this report, the alleged perpetrator is still working the streets freely.
