The International Press Centre (IPC) has demanded for adequate protection to be provided to the female Journalist who was recently brutalized by her husband in Adamawa state.
It would be recalled that Nefasah Vandi, a Journalist with the Adamawa state Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), was recently brutalized by her husband, the action which The Trumpet gathered to did not go down well with her colleagues.
According to the statement which was on Saturday made available to our Taraba State correspondent by IPC Safety Alert Desk, Vandi a mother of three, the statement said: “was allegedly beaten to stupor by her estranged husband, Mallam Ibrahim Aliyu who inflicted various degrees of injuries, including dislocation of one of her hands.”

The statement which was signed by the Executive Director of IPC, Lanre Arogundade, states that NUJ strongly condemned the attack on the female journalist.
Piqued that the spikes in the case of domestic violence against women by their spouses’ are alarming, the need for the security agencies to devise ways of halting the tread, he believed has become necessary.
He, therefore, charged security operatives to thoroughly carry out their investigations and prosecute the perpetrator as a step towards reducing attacks on female journalists in Nigeria.
Adding that “We condemn the attack and demand apprehension and trial of the alleged prosecutor so that justice can be served” Arogundade said.
Several organizations have come out to condemn the inhuman treatment meted on the female media practitioner among which are: Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Adamawa Council, among others,
