Akwa United whitewash Nasarawa United

Akwa United humiliated Nasarawa United 6-1 in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Thursday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
The host, which got on the scoresheet in 10 minutes doubled the goal margin seven minutes after through Midfielder Adamu Yakubu.
The ignited Akwa United continued its romp against the visitors and outplayed them in all areas.
Five minutes after Yakubu’s, Wisdom Fernando scored and completed his brace to make it 4-0 before the end of the first half.
Though Nasarawa United responded through King Osanga’s effort to reduce the margin to three, Bello Babatunde and Franklin Matib ensured they increased the goal margin to five (5) for Akwa United.
Coach Ayodeji Ayeni after the game praised his players for a job well done.

He said, “We are improving every day, and I’m happy that we have been able to change the mentality of the players and hard work we put in during training is beginning to reflect in our matches and the boys are also very confident and determined.
“Our attention is now on the game against Lobi Stars this weekend. Our target is to give our very best in all our games while hoping for the best as we continue to move forward,” he added.
Akwa United occupies the seventh position on the NPFL table, a point above Enyimba in the eighth position and the same point as Sunshine Stars which ended Rivers United 12 match unbeaten run in the sixth position.
