Confluence Handball head coach, Ago Joshua has attributed his side’s loss to Kano Pillars over the weekend to inexperience.
The Lokoja-based club, who tallied a 20-20 scoreline in the first half with defending champions Kano Pillars, fell to an infamous 40-29 defeat in the second half at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
Ayo added that the players were fatigued in the course of the defeat, while he lamented that the squad’s depth has been greatly hampered by injuries.
“They [players] lost focus in the second half due to lack of experience, the players were tired and were overrun,” Ago told NAN after the match.
“They used all their energy in the first half to have a draw, one of our major problems is that our big players have injuries.

“We will go back to our drawing board and work on lapses before our next match,” Ayo assured.
His counterpart, Solomon Yola, has thanked God for recording the seventh win for Kano Pillars in the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League.
Yola, who was extremely satisfied with his team’s impressive performance, attributed the success to hard work and determination.
He said, “We thank God for this victory, we will continue to fight to maintain our position as the defending champions.
This is the first phase of the league and we still have the second phase to play before the end of the year.
“We will continue to fight with the spirit of winning all our games, we want to remain at the top of the league,” he added.
The result from other matches according to NAN, saw Police Machine draw 31-31 against Lagos Seasiders in the first match of the day. Safety Shooters defeated Benue Buffaloes 34-26 in the second match and Niger United beat Defenders 34-19.
Owena Kings of Akure walked over Kada Stars of Kaduna in the fourth game. Rima Strikers of Sokoto beat Tojemarine Academy 31–30.
Ten female and 12 male clubs are participating in the league.
Kano Pillars head coach also thanked the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for the support he has provided to ensure the team retains the diadem.
