IGP appoints new CP to head Akwa Ibom State Command

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Baba Alkali has appointed a new Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, to head the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.

The new CP takes over from Andrew Amiengheme, who was recently promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police.

In a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon, in Uyo, the state capital, on Thursday, CP Durosinmi, who is the 31st Commissioner of the state, was Assistant Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Imo State Police Command.

The statement reads, “The Police Boss holds a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Sociology from the University of Ife, an LLB from the Delta State University, Abraka. He was called to Bar in 2001 and has a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) from the Lagos State University. His PhD in Law from Imo State University is in view.

“Appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on the 3rd of March 1990, he has served in various capacities and attended Courses both locally and internationally.

“Before his present appointment, he was Assistant Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Imo State Police Command.

“Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Akwa Ibom Police Command. Area Commander, Akure.

“Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Kebbi State Police Command. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Federal Special Weapon and Tactics (FSWAT), Annex, Lagos.”

Speaking while assuming his new office, the CP urged the people of the state to remain law-abiding and give him all the necessary support and cooperation to fight crime and criminality and continue to make the state one of the most peaceful in the country.
