I kill my husband because I was fed with marriage – Fatima

A 25 year old housewife, Fatima Goni, has broken her silence on the circumstances that made her terminate the life of her husband. Fatima who is presently cooling off her head in the custody of the Borno state police command said she decided to poison her husband because she was fed up with the marriage.

Fatima who made her mind known to media practitioners on Sunday in Maiduguri, at the state police command, said the late Goni was her second husband.

The suspect whom The Trumpet observed did not deny the crime, admitted that she bought the poison from the market when she made up her mind to end the life of her husband.

Stressing that “I never wanted the marriage Goni was my second husband” adding that “I got separated with my first husband because I hate marriage.”

“Anytime I wake up with the fact that I am married, it pisses me off. At some point, I had to run to my parents to demand an end to the marriage but they always sent me back, asking me to be patient” She said.

The state commissioner of police, Abdu Umar, who paraded her before newsmen in the command headquarters said she was nabbed in Anguwan Doki, by the Borno state police command.

The deceased whom our correspondent learnt was the Chief Imam of the area, was said to have been poisoned by his jealous second wife, Fatima.

He also stated that the victim returned from the mosque when the suspect, who was the second wife, allegedly mixed poison in his food.

Alleging that the condition of the deceased started deteriorating as soon as he finished eating the food, the victim, according to the commissioner, was immediately rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, where he later gave up the ghost.

“I immediately deployed men of the Criminal Investigation to arrest the suspect after the incident was reported by the family of the victim at the GRA Police Station,” The commissioner said.

For the swift intervention of the police, the suspect, according to the commissioner, will have been lynched by angry youths who according to him, stormed the police station in their numbers.
