How police nabbed three suspected armed robbers in Delta

Three suspected armed robbers were arrested in Delta State on June 5, 2023, The Trumpet reports. The arrests were made by operatives of the Agbor and Mosogar divisions of the state police command.

In the first incident, operatives of the Agbor division were on patrol along Baleke Street in Iregua Agbor when they sighted a motorcycle with three passengers. On seeing the police, two of the passengers, who were later identified as Collins Anthony and Stephen Goddey, both residents of Agbor, jumped off the motorcycle and fled, DSP Bright Edafe told news men on Wednesday.

According to him, the police officers gave the suspects a chase and arrested them. A search of their persons revealed a locally made cut-to-size pistol and a live cartridge.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are members of a criminal syndicate that has been terrorizing the Agbor community and its environs. The suspects are currently in police custody and investigation is ongoing.

In the second incident, policemen attached to the Mosogar division intercepted a man named Moses Musa along the Mosogar/Oghara express way. Musa was in the company of two other men, Kelin and Isah, DSP Edafe narrated.

He said, on seeing the police, the three men fled into a nearby bush. The police pursued them and arrested Musa. A search of Musa’s person revealed a locally made pistol and a live cartridge. The other two men escaped into the bush.

Musa confessed that he is from Kogi State and that he and his accomplices were specialized in POS robbery. He also admitted to being involved in the recent snatching of a motorcycle at gun point along the Oghara/Mosogar Bridge. Musa is currently in police custody and investigation is ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Wale Abass, has commended the officers and men of the command for their continuous effort in curbing crime and other vices in the state. He has also assured residents that the tempo will be sustained.
