Happy at Manchester City, Bernardo Silva bluffs Barcelona’s links

Manchester City forward Bernardo Silva has shelved a move to join former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen in Camp Nou after several reports linked the Portuguese with an imminent move to Catalunya.
Bernardo joined City five years ago from Monaco for circa €50 million and has featured in 254 games under coach Pep Guardiola with 49 goals to his name.
Despite the player having quite a wonderful spell in England where he has won four Premier League titles, four Carabao Cups, two Community Shields and an FA Cup since his move to Etihad Stadium, coach Xavi Hernandez has been on his trail to bolster his attacking option despite Barcelona’s financial escapade.
Several reports alleged the player was close to switching allegiance to have more playing time in Camp Nou but in a twist of events, after Manchester City’s game against Newcastle on Sunday, Silver said he is happy at Etihad.

In the encounter against Newcastle, the Magpies were close to sealing three points at St James’ Park before Bernardo Silva rescued a point with a 64-minute leveller.
However, the player after the match where he provided the assist for Ilkay Gundogan’s opener, and was named the ‘Man of the Match’, reaffirmed his commitment to the club.
“I’m happy here. I’m doing everything possible to help the club. I’m very focused,” said Bernardo Silva.
A Spanish report said Bernardo Silva was interested in the move to play in La Liga but the body language of the club was enough to send a signal that such plans will not come to fruition this season. Nevertheless, it may be possible in the future without him forcing his move away from England.
