FG, CBN to finance 75,600 N-Power beneficiaries
Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has concluded arrangements to empower over 75,600 beneficiaries of batches A and B of the N-Power Programme. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Mrs Sadiya Farouq, disclosed this in Abuja at the inauguration of the NEXT-CBN, Agri-Business, Small and Medium Enterprises Scheme (AGSMES).
AGSMS is an initiative of the Bankers Committee aimed at supporting and complementing the Federal Government efforts at promoting Agric-business, as a vehicle for sustainable economic development and employment generation.
The event is designed to train beneficiaries as part of the Federal Government’s strategy to ensure that the objectives of the N-Power initiative are realised, The Trumpet gathered.
The 75,600 beneficiaries are the first batch of the 467,183, who applied for the training. Farouq, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Bashir Akali, said the initiative was designed to achieve the national objectives of poverty reduction and job creation.

The N-Power programme is crucial in helping young Nigerians to acquire and develop lifelong skills that will ensure that they become solution providers and entrepreneur in their domains. “Recently more segments have been embedded into the N-Power pro gramme such as the N-skill, which is for youths with no formal education, who will be trained in different vocational skills and trades.
“The mobile money agents, which are for financial inclusion of the youth segment, is another achievement of the programme,” she said. The minister maintained that it had been her desire that the excited batches A and B of N-Power beneficiaries would not be left unattended to in the new arrangement.
“Today marks the beginning of the fulfillment of this awaited training that will enable the beneficiaries that indicated interest to participate in the CBN empowerment programme,” she stressed, adding that other batches will take their turns in the training.
