Gunmen kill 9 persons in Katsina

Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have killed nine persons at Kwai and Ruwan Godiya communities in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The incident which took place at about 1:30 pm on Monday, occurred when the terrorists attacked the two communities and started shooting sporadically.

They also abducted unknown number of people and rustled unspecified number of animals.

Several people were said to have sustained injuries during the attack. The Trumpet Gathered

A source from the area said nine people were killed, while dozens of persons sustained injuries.

He said some residents were abducted, but that the actual number was yet to be ascertained as at time of this report.

He added that the communities have been left in fear following the attack, while some of them have relocated to other communities for fear of another attack.

According to the source, the deceased persons were buried Monday evening according to Islamic rites while the injured were receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson for the Katsina Police Command, SP Gambo Isah said six persons were killed by the terrorists during the attack.

Isah also said that six other people sustained injuries while trying to flee from the terrorists, and have been taken to hospital for treatment.

He added that the terrorists rustled some domestic animals and that the Command was investigating the matter.
