FIFA appoints Amaju for a new committee
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), has appointed the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr. Amaju Pinnick, to a new role.
Amaju, who was recommended for the new role by Dr. Joseph Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), is also a member of the FIFA Council.
CAF, in a letter signed by its General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba, revealed that Amaju’s appointment made him a part of the “newly established Working Group on Normalisation Committees” The Trumpet gathered.
Going forward, CAF noted that the task of the joint working group headed by FIFA is to analyse the applicable legal framework and fashion out recommendations to the world football governing body where needed.
The letter read in part: “This joint working group, to be led by FIFA, will analyse the applicable legal framework and the governance structure, mandate, and mission of Normalisation Committees, and make suggestions to the FIFA Council accordingly.

“We are confident that your nomination to this working group will positively contribute to the pertinent, and often essential, the role played by Normalisation Committees in support of federations and towards the fulfillment of good governance practices.”
Meanwhile, FIFA has welcomed the United Nations General Assembly (UN General Assembly) consensus resolution from the recent 76th session which recognises the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ as the first such event to be held in the Middle East and encourages the relevant authorities to ensure that it will leave a lasting legacy for peace and development in the region.
