
The Federal Government, in collaboration with WEMA Bank, has finalized preparations to educate two million young individuals in digital skills and empower one million Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria.
This announcement was made by Mr. Olusola Abiola, the Director of Information at the Office of the Vice President, in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
According to Mr. Abiola, “WEMA Bank, in partnership with the Office of the Vice President, has completed plans to launch an initiative that will benefit two million youths and one million Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the nation.”
During a courtesy visit to Vice President Kashim Shettima, Mr. Moruf Oseni, the Managing Director of the bank, provided an update on the program’s progress. This initiative, known as the FGN-ALAT Digital Skill-Novation Programme, aims to train two million youths and empower one million MSMEs across Nigeria.
Vice President Shettima praised the bank’s commitment and partnership, stating, “I appreciate your initiative and commitment, and rest assured that we will fulfill our part of the agreement.”

In an interview with the media, Mr. Oseni stated that they briefed Vice President Shettima on the FGN/ALAT project’s progress and plans to establish innovation hubs nationwide.
He also emphasized the importance of supporting President’s economic revival plan and stated, “If Nigeria prospers, financial institutions will prosper. We are fully supportive of his administration.”
Temitola Adekunle-Johnson, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation and MSMEs, highlighted the significance of this collaboration between the private and public sectors in realizing the “Renewed Hope” agenda.
The official launch of the FGN/ALAT Digital Skill-Novation Programme is scheduled for September 29th at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja. Additionally, attendees at Monday’s meeting included Mr. Tunde Mabawonko, Executive Director of WEMA Bank; Mr. Bamidele Adefemi, Head of Federal Public Sector; and Mr. Chioma Onuaguluchi, Regional Manager of Wema Bank in Abuja.
Furthermore, the training initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s commitment to support job creation under the Tinubu administration.
