FG shuts federal colleges in Abuja over terrorist threats, evacuates students

The Federal Ministry of Education says it has directed closure of all Federal Government Colleges in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory following security threats of impending bandits and terrorist attacks.

The Ministry ordered the immediate evacuation of students from the schools latest on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

Some schools (FGCs) had directed students to vacate on Wednesday, other schools disseminated messages to parents and guardians on Sunday asking them to come pick their children on Monday, while others will close on Tuesday.

The Federal government college, Kwali requested parents on Sunday not to fail to pick up their children on Monday, unfailingly, due to directives from the Federal Ministry of Education.

An attack at a nearby community to the Federal Government College (FCG) Kwali, Abuja has prompted the school authority to evacuate their students from the school hostel.

Parents trooped to the school on Monday morning to evacuate their children from the unity college located at Sheda village, on the ever-busy Abuja-Lokoja highway.

The federal government also called for calm among parents stating that authorities of the schools have been briefed appropriately on modules of closure between Monday and Wednesday.

There have been a bunch of abductions from schools in the country by Boko Haram insurgents and bandits.
