FG pledges support for Nigerian young entrepreneurs

The Federal Government has hinted that it will send a bill to the National Assembly aimed at enacting a law to support young entrepreneurs in the country, especially in the digital ecosystem to become successful.
Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, who stated this during an interactive session with the leadership of the House of Representatives recently in Abuja, said the bill will focus on the creation and development of the ministry’s startup ecosystem.
The minister also said when passed, the bill will provide an enabling environment for young entrepreneurs in the digital ecosystem to be successful and urged the executive and legislative arms of government to work together to address the challenges facing young innovators and entrepreneurs in the country.

Pantami pointed out that young entrepreneurs in the country were faced with challenges that required government intervention, which needed no financial support to eliminate.
“These young entrepreneurs are not seeking government jobs. In fact, they are employers, not employees. So, by implication, if we support them, that will go a long way in creating many job opportunities for our citizens. Because all the startups are not in any way potential job employees, but rather potential job providers,” he said.
The minister said the Federal Government had discovered that most countries had their own startup APPs, which was about bringing stakeholders to discuss the challenges being confronted by young innovators and entrepreneurs, adding that the government would do everything possible to ensure that they succeed.
Responding, Leader of the House of Representatives Ahasan Ado-Doguwa, said the interaction was part of the opportunity to explain the Intent and benefits of the legislative documents.
