PGA Tour: Cameron Smith wins Players Championship

Cameron Smith has won ‘The Players Championship’ in Florida after he saw off Paul Casey, Anirban Lahiri, Kevin Kisner, and Keegan Bradley in a tightly contested golf tournament.
The Australian took home $3.6million after winning the tournament with a 5-year exemption from PGA Tour. Smith, in the course of the game at TPC Sawgrass, was trailing two strokes behind his opponents in the final round after he was affected by bad weather but regained his lead by hitting five birdies on his first six holes.
He, however, Cameron followed the five birdies with a bounce-back from three consecutive bogeys to start his back nine with four consecutive birdies The Trumpet gathered.
Following the 15th and 16th clutch par-saves, was a superb birdie at the par-three 17th which offered Smith a three-shot buffer.

The Australian needed a daring up-and down bogey at the last, after pitching into the water in an unexplainable circumstance to close to a six-under 66 and set the target at 13 under.
Smith, 28, after becoming a professional golfer at the age of 20, has won five PGA T, two European Tour, and two PGA Tour of Australasia. He is ranked 6 in the world of golf.
