Explore opportunities in agriculture, education, tech, Edo charges youths

Edo State Government has urged youths to take advantage of the opportunities provided by reforms and investment by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration in various sectors of the state’s economy to develop themselves and realize their fullest potential.

The Edo State Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Mr Christopher Nehikhare, gave the charge during a three-day skills development programme for youths in the state.

The programme was held at the Edo State College of Education, in Abudu, the administrative headquarters of Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state, as part of activities to mark this year’s International Youth Day.

Nehikhare said the government will continue to prioritize youth development, ensuring that young people in the state are adequately equipped with the requisite skills and tools to be productive and contribute their quota to the development of the state.

He said, “We are determined to train and empower our youths with skills and tools to realize their dreams, ensuring that their potential is adequately harnessed and their businesses provided with the right environment to succeed.”

The Commissioner added, “These youths will be given skills to grow their businesses, as well as insights on how to build successful ventures. We urge them to take advantage of the opportunities provided by reforms and investment by the state government in various sectors of the state’s economy, including agriculture, education and health, among others to develop themselves and realize their fullest potential.”

According to him, “We want to build that trust between the government and the people. We want to tell them that we are relying on their enterprise and skills for the next generation of the state and Nigeria at large.”

On her part, the Focal person for the Social Investment Programme in Edo, Mrs Osayuwamen Aladeselu, has said that the programme is part of activities to meaningfully engage the youths, equipping them with the skills and tools to thrive in a technology-driven 21st century.
