ENADEP, Enugu farmer’s strategies to boost agricultural produces

The Enugu State Agricultural Development Programme (ENADEP) and the farmer’s associations in the state have strategized ways to boost agricultural production in the state.
Dr Ogbonna Onyeisi, the Programme Manager of ENADEP disclosed this in an interactive session with the farmers at the ENADEP Headquarters, on Friday in Enugu.
Onyeisi said that it was important for ENEDEP to have a cordial relationship with farmers in the state.
According to him, cordial relations will help the farmers to speak with one voice in their advocacy for improving the welfare of their members and getting the necessary inputs to boost their income.
“ENADEP is trying to collaborate with South Field international, promoter of local production of organic fertilizer to train farmers in various Local Government Areas of the state.”
He said that during the interactive session farmers agreed to formulate action plans after the meeting.
“Some of the action plans are to promote the training of farmers on how to produce organic fertilizer, to create avenues for interaction between farmers associations and candidates for 2023 elections.
and to collaborate with Local Government Chairmen in the state,” he said.
In his closing remark, Onyeisi thanked the Enugu farmers and promised more engagements with them and ENADEP.

Mr Govianni Madubuaku, CEO of South Field international said that the use of organic fertilizer was a modern good agricultural practice and his passion to help farmers learn about the local production of organic fertilizer was one of his priorities.
The South East Vice President of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria RIFAN, Mrs Lovelyn Ejim, thanked the programme manager and appreciated the good work of South Field International.
Ejim urged farmer’s associations to interact with candidates of different political parties on their agricultural development policies and programmes and plans for Enugu State farmers.
She said that such interaction with candidates was necessary so that farmers will not be deceived by politicians just as in the past.
