Edo State Government has extended the deadline for the enforcement of the use of state colour code by commercial drivers in the state.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Osasere M. Evbuomwan, said the state government is not insensitive to the plight and requests of the drivers concerning the regulation of the State Transport Policy.
He noted, “Edo State Government hereby announces to the general public, especially members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Road Transport Employers Association (RTEAN), that the Edo State Government is not insensitive to their plight and requests concerning the regulation of the State Transport Policy.

“Arising from the above, the Edo State Government hereby announces the following measures: The extension of the deadline for compliance to December 31st, 2022, for all unpainted commercial vehicles in the state to be painted to the State Colour Code.
“The prohibition of the use of unregistered vehicles is still in force, and all commercial vehicles (Buses, Taxis, Toyota Yaris), are to present their vehicles for profiling and issuance of Security Code Numbers (SCN),” he added.
According to the commissioner, “The general public is hereby informed that the profiling of all vehicle owners, drivers and their registration is on-going at the Godwin Obaseki Hall, EDSTMA Academy, Ministry of Transportation, Sapele Road, Benin City, Edo State. “Government solicits the support and understanding of the general public to secure and protect the lives and property of Edo people.”
