By Isaac Olamikan

Edo State Ministry of Physical Planning, Urban and Regional Development will on Thursday commence sensitization on building plan permits and other regulations within the built environment space to Ekpoma and environs in Esan West Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement, the Ministry said the exercise is intended to extend the sensitization campaign to Edo Central Senatorial District, to ensure that laws and regulations on buildings and physical planning are enforced uniformly across the state.

Tagged “Sensitization Tour of MPPURD Area Offices,” the exercise will include monitoring of offices and ensuring that they put resources deployed to the senatorial area to good use.

According to the statement, the government “is determined to ensure that we monitor developments across the state and certify that all buildings meet the minimum standards set by the ministry.

“The intention is to ensure that we are up to speed with developments in area offices, which were opened over three months ago. We are to get firsthand information on how well they have applied the work tools the state government supplied to them, such as operational bikes.

“The exercise will enable us to ascertain the level of compliance of developers in the area offices to building regulations. We want to know how many of the developers have applied for building plans, and in addition, do an on-the-spot needs assessment of what other requirements may need to deliver on the requirements for town planning work in the area offices.”
