Delta Police boss charges newly promoted officers to brace up

Over 50 officers of the Delta State Police Command were on Wednesday decorated with their new ranks after being promoted by the Police Service Commission(PSC). The event, which took place at the Police Officers Mess, Okwe, was presided over by the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Dr Ali Mohammed Ari.

Addressing the officers, who were elevated to the ranks of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Superintendent of Police (SP), CP Ari affirmed that promotion could only come from God at His appointed time.

He said what mattered were good health and long life to experience promotion whenever it was due, and reminded the officers that they needed to brace up for more challenging responsibilities that their new ranks would bestow to them.

The CP warned against dereliction of duty, which he said would attract severe consequences, charging the officers to live above board, rededicate themselves to their duties and tackle challenges headlong at all times to ensure a more efficient and effective policing of the state.

In an interview, the HOD of the Police Officers Mess, Mrs Christiana Amadike, who was promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police, thanked God for making it possible and pledged to diligently perform the duties and responsibilities assigned to the new rank.

Also speaking, another newly decorated Superintendent of Police, Mrs Phoebe Vincent Niyel, thanked the Police Service Commission for approving the promotion and the State Commissioner, Dr Ali Mohammed Ari, for his role in facilitating the promotion.
