Delta NSCDC nabs two impostors

The Delta State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps NSCDC says it has arrested two impostors in Okpe local government area of the state for extorting unsuspecting members of the public.

The Public Relations Officer Dsc. Emeka Okwechime, in a statement, says the suspects were caught with dangerous items including jack knives, jungle boots and handcuffs.

He notes that the suspects were apprehended while using the regalia of the civil defence corps at an illegal checkpoint in Jedo, Okpe.

The statement adds that the arrest followed a series of complaints by the public on the activities of the supposed officials of the corps, before the state Commandant of the NSCDC Iskilu Akinsanya, initiated an Investigation and Enforcement team after the criminals.

It assures members of the public of the commitment of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps to protect lives and properties and to maintain public order in the state.
