Delta monarch dies barely two years after coronation

**Okere-Urhobo Warri King HRM Okumagba II passes on

Barely two years after receiving Staff of Office from the Delta State Government and three years of ascension to the throne, the traditional ruler of Okere-Urhobo Warri Kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area, Okumagba II has been confirmed dead.

The Orusuen (ruler), His Royal Majesty, Sir Emmanuel Ono Okumagba (JP), Okumgba II was crowned in November, 2020 after the demise of his predecessor, HRM Prof. Paul Oghenero Okumagba, Idama II, who died in July 2019.

His demise was announced by the Otata Of Okere -Urhobo kingdom Warri, Chief Gold Eburu, a retired Brigadier-General during a press briefing on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the Oroseun palace.

He said, Okumagba II, had travelled to join his ancestors, adding that the final rites of passage would be announced later. The Trumpet Gathered

The noted that the council of Chiefs has directed that in line with the customs and traditions of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom no ceremonies such as burials, marriages and others should take place within the kingdom until after the celebrations of the final rites of the late monarch.

He appealed to all residents of the kingdom to remain peaceful and law-abiding.

The covering of the Royal stool of the Oroseun of Okere -Urhobo kingdom with black cloth was also a sign that the kingdom is mourning.
