A political stalwart of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Delta State, Hon. Austin Ikwuobodo, has formally decamped to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the state.

Ikwuobodo resigned his membership of the APC after failing to secure the Delta State House of Assembly ticket of the party for his constituencies in a primary election he described as undemocratic.

According to Hon Austin Ikwuobodo, his decision to leave the APC to join the PDP was influenced not just because he lost the primary election in an undemocratic manner but because the state’s PDP and the governor have demonstrated great love for the Ndokwa people by selecting one of its own, Monday Oyeme as Deputy Governorship candidate of the party.

Ikwuobodo who paid a courtesy call to governor Okowa in his office in Asaba, said the choice of Sir Monday Oyeme as deputy governorship candidate was historic as it was the first time an Ndokwa indigene, under PDP, would be selected for the position.

He assured the governor of the massive support of the Ndokwa people and promised that the Ndokwa nation will vote for PDP across board in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

He also attributed the selection of Governor Okowa as PDP’s Vice Presidential candidate to the party’s value for competence, capacity and all round equity, adding that the Governor’s choice was a round peg in a round hole.
