Police begin orderly room trial of four policemen who extorted man of 350 euros

Four policemen who extorted the sum of 350 Euros from a man, which he was taking to a hospital in Lagos, to pay for his father’s medical bills have been given an orderly room trial by the authorities of the Lagos State Police Command.

The sister of the man, whose name on her Twitter handle is @Marisalex_22, had given details of how her brother, who was going to a hospital, was stopped by the policemen and the money he was taking to the hospital to pay their father’s medical bills was taken from him.

After her tweets, which got the attention of the authorities of the State Police Command, the Command, through its Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, invited the man and his sister to the state police command.

The man was able to identify the policemen, who were said to have admitted to collecting the money and were made to return the 350 Euros, which was handed back to the man.

The lady also announced on her Twitter handle that the Lagos Police PRO facilitated the recovery of the money, while nothing was done to the policemen.

This action of the Lagos State Police PRO did not go down well with the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), who wrote on his Twitter handle asking the Lagos Police PRO to take more disciplinary action against the policemen.

Hundeyin announced on his Twitter handle that the four policemen involved in the act are currently facing an orderly room trial at the Command’s headquarters in Ikeja, the state capital.

Displaying the photograph of the policemen, he did not disclose how long the orderly room trial would last.

He simply wrote: “Orderly room trial has commenced.”
