Barcelona President Juan Laporta has said Manchester United’s prime target, Frenkie de Jong, will only leave Camp Nou if the Catalans have no choice.
Laporta, who recently said the Dutch midfielder was not for sale and would do everything within his powers to see the player determined to continue with the Blaugrana, is made to stay.

Manchester United need the player to reunite with Erik ten Hag, who once coached him in Ajax and with Tyrell Malacia switching to Old Trafford from Feyenoord, and Christian Eriksson and Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez in the loop, the Red Devils are set to accelerate their business in the transfer market.
However, United are not finding the negotiations to snap their prime target to Old Trafford easy as Laporta has continued to insist the player is not for sale.
On Saturday, Laporta during a tribute to Johan Cruyff stressed that “There are clubs that want him, not just United. We have no intention of selling him, he wants to stay.
“Frenkie is considered as one of the best midfielders in the world by all the experts. We are happy to have him.

“I’m going to do everything I can in my power so that Frenkie stays here, but there’s also a salary issue and that would have to be adjusted,” he stated.
To further affirm his position regarding De Jong’s presumed move to the English Premier League, Laporta on Wednesday said Barcelona will only allow the player to leave if they are faced with no choice.
“Frenkie de Jong is a Barcelona player we don’t want to sell him unless we have no other choice. Of course, we know there are offers for de Jong but we don’t want to sell him,” Larpota declared.
According to a Spanish journalist, Gerard Moreno, yesterday, Barcelona need about £64m for the midfielder up front with an additional £10m as add-ons.
Barca had previously pegged their price for De Jong at £56m plus add-ons but the recent development will have Manchester United go back to the drawing board to bring forward a better offer.
