Customs Seize Contraband with N70m DPV in Katsina

Contraband with Duty Paid Value of N70 million has been seized from smugglers by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Katsina state.

Acting Comptroller in charge of Katsina Customs Area Command, DC Dalha Wada Chedi, who stated stated this at a press conference yesterday, said the items were seized last month.

Chedi identified the contraband to include 10 vehicles with DPA of 24.1 million, and foreign food as well as non-food items worth 45.5 million.

He said the seizures would serve as deterrent to smugglers, even as he called on them to desist from their illegal activity or face the consequences when apprehended.

He assured that the command was committed to tackling activities of smugglers and bringing same to the barest minimum in the state.

The customs boss added that smugglers were always looking for new ways to smuggle contraband into the country, but that the command was also putting up measures to check their illegal operations.
