Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo will meet the club manager Erik ten Hag on Tuesday to discuss the possibility of leaving Old Trafford to welcome a new challenge.

The player, in a bid to leave the club, abstained from the club’s pre-season tour to Australia and Thailand citing family reasons.

He, also, in the pre-season training, refused to come to Carrington, the training base of the club, instead trained in the National Stadium of Portugal.

Chelsea had previously signified interest in the player but backed out early this month while Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are reportedly gunning for his signature.

While there are ongoing rumours linking the Portuguese to clubs in Europe and his recent refusal to accept a big-money move to the middle east, Erik ten Hag had previously said the club’s highest goalscorer last season is not for sale.

To corroborate Ten Hag’s stance on Ronaldo, Dharmesh Sheth, a Sky Sports reporter, stated that Manchester United are opposed to his exit, adding that the club is not looking for a replacement for the goal poacher.

Ten Hag, however, insisted that he cannot wait for Ronaldo to join the team.

“Concerning is maybe not the right word. I focus on the players who are there and they are doing well,” Ten Hag responded during an interaction with the media.

“They are in good shape and I have further focus on that and develop that.

“I cannot wait for (Ronaldo) to come in and then we will integrate him,” he stated.

The Red Devils play Atletico Madrid in Norway on Saturday before their final pre-season game at Old Trafford against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.

Ten Hag’s first game of the 2022-23 season is at Old Trafford to Brighton on Sunday, August 7.

Meanwhile, the Portuguese forward arrived at Carrington training ground alongside his agent Jorge Mendes to discuss his future.
