Court Case: Ondo PDP Disowns Party Chieftain

The Ondo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has disowned one of its staunch members, Mr. Bode Obanla, who dragged the immediate past Governor of the State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, to court over the party’s leadership.
The state working committee of the party disclosed that the action of Obanla was a great embarrassment to the party in the state.
In a press release by the Ondo State PDP Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, titled, “Court case against Mimiko: Ondo PDP disowns Obanla”, the PDP noted that the action of Obanla is a slight on the person of Dr. Mimiko who ruled the state on two-term.
Peretei, however, stated that Dr. Mimiko is a national figure whose political sagacity transcends beyond the boundaries and conclaves of the Ondo state.

He said that Mimiko was wooed back to the party by the delegation from the national leadership of the party led by former presidential aspirant and Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal.
The statement added that the purported court action instituted against Dr. Olusegun Mimiko by Bode Obanla received by the party was a rude shock.
According to the statement, “Dr. Mimiko, a two-term Governor of Ondo State is not only a senior citizen in Ondo State but Nigeria at large.
“His return to the PDP was orchestrated by four Governors elected on the platform of our great party PDP under the leadership of Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, Governor of Sokoto State and Chairman, PDP Governors’ Forum”
“The State Working Committee(SWC) wishes to state unequivocally that the action of Bode Obanla is a great embarrassment to the party and necessary actions will be taken in due course”, the statement said.
The party said Obanla’s action was a mere distraction that should be treated without levity, especially during the time all hands are on deck to rescue and rebuild the State and Nigeria at large.
