Speaking, Umar urged the officers to rededicate themselves to their statutory responsibilities and charged them to be disciplined and work according to the codes, procedures, departmental instructions and laws as enshrine in the Customs and Excise Management Act Cap C45 2004 as amended.

Umar was among the Comptrollers, who were recently redeployed on February 8, 2022 by the Comptroller General of Customs, Hameed Ali.

Until his appointment, Umar was the Comptroller in-charge of Discipline at the Customs Headquarters, Abuja.
